Job opening: Canvassers

Canvasser
Hales Government Solutions (HGS) specializes in supporting state and local government agencies in order to help them operate more effectively and efficiently. HGS is currently seeking canvassers for a Resident Engagement program.

Canvassers will conduct direct contact with community members through direct door to door conversations and hot spot canvassing at high traffic areas. Canvassers will be working on the ground in neighborhoods across Washington, DC and report to the lead canvasser.

 

Canvasser Job Description

  • Door to door canvassing
  • Work directly with Lead Canvasser to ensure that turf goals are being met
  • Report to Canvass Lead daily
  • Pay is $ 18/hour

 

Canvasser Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to walk door-to-door consistently
  • Ability to use a tablet accurately
  • Previous canvassing experience is a plus

We are currently seeking research interviewers for our upcoming research projects.

Phone interviewers administer interviews via telephone to the public regarding various research topics. 

REQUIREMENTS

Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required. Must also be fluent in either Spanish or Amharic. Previous research interviewing experience is preferred.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Speak, read and write clearly in English & Spanish or Amharic
  • Understand and retain interviewing and study material and follow protocols
  • Document information as given by the respondent
  • Remain neutral while being friendly
  • Be receptive to constructive feedback on an ongoing basis

Other Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Gain cooperation of the Respondent
  • Administer interviews following scripts and using approved interviewing techniques and project-specific protocols
  • Accurately & completely record interview responses
  • Provide feedback to supervisor
  • Identify study problems
  • Attend project trainings as scheduled

Work Schedule
Weekday Day Shift (Tuesday, Wednesday. Thursday, Friday) (10:30am – 3:30pm)
Weekday Evening Shift (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30pm- 8:30pm)
Weekend Shift (Saturday morning 10am- 3pm)

*Schedule subject to change based on project needs

Pay: $22-25/Hour

Help Wanted-Canvassers in DC area (no sales or appointment setting)

Canvasser

Canvassers are responsible for executing the robust door to door canvass program. The Canvassers will report to the Field Director and on a limited basis to the Lead Canvasser. Shifts are based on a 2-4 hour days. Canvassers will perform and should have the following skills:

  • Educate and engage community through door to door canvassing
  • Be comfortable in economically distressed neighborhoods
  • Complete daily and weekly reports on progress and meet all goals and metrics.
  • Effectively use technology tools to ensure accurate and timely data entry
  • Participate and complete all required training
  • Strategic mindset with flexibility to quickly adjust tactics
  • Demonstrated success in metric driven jobs
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, database and use of the internet
  • Unflinching commitment to exceptional work product and customer service

Work ScheduleWeekday Evenings  and Saturday Mornings (15-20 hours a month)

Inaugural Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for Leadership Winners Announced

The Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for Leadership Committee & Hales Creative Solutions are pleased to announce the winners of the inaugural Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for Leadership.  The 2016 winners of the Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for Leadership are Ms. Kymberly Mitchell from Poplarville High School in Poplarville, MS and Ms. Lauren Walker from Picayune Memorial High School in Picayune, MS.

Ms. Walker is a member of the Picayune Memorial High School Lady Tide softball team, student council, Beta Club and the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Pearl River Community College in the fall and study Dental Hygiene.

Ms. Mitchell is a member of the Beta Club and HOSA-Future Health Professionals. She plans to attend either Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College or William Carey University in the fall and study Nursing.

The Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for leadership is open to graduating seniors from a high school in Pearl River County, Mississippi. Candidates are required to have a 3.0 GPA at the time of submission, as well submit an essay about why they consider their selves to be a leader.
