The Anthony Hales Sr. Scholarship for Leadership will continue to build on the legacy of Mr. Hales by providing scholarship money to a local student from Pearl River County to attend an Institution of Higher Learning of their choice.


The 2017 Scholarship(s) will be for $1000.  More than one winner may be selected. Funds will be paid directly to the institution prior to the start of the Fall semester. If for any reason, the winner(s) fail to enroll in college the following year, the scholarship will be awarded to the next runner up.


Applicants must be a graduating senior, who attends high school in Pearl River County (currently that includes Poplarville High, Picayune Memorial High & Pearl River Central High). Applicants must have plans to attend college the upcoming fall semester and provide proof of enrollment before funds will be dispersed.


Applicants will judged based on three criteria, 1)academic achievement 2)record of community service 3)ability to demonstrate their leadership qualities


Applicants should submit a transcript (or most recent report card), 2 letters of recommendation and a 500-700 word essay that highlights their community service record and why they consider themselves to be a leader. The application period will open on October 15, 2016 and close on February 1, 2017.   The winner(s) will be announced in March 2017.   Applications should be emailed to scholarship@halesgovernment.com
